Morphing (Cycle One)
I created Morphing (Cycle One) as a triptych during a personal transition that is still unfolding. I intend the video for large-scale projection across all the walls of a room. The images connect, and the figures appear to look at one another. This mirrored space reflects the processes I am living through.
I ask myself: Who am I? Who was I a minute ago? Who will I be in fifty years? In the work, these timelines meet in the same moment. Scientific ideas about time and simultaneity inform how I think about this coexistence and the changes within it.
I explore my body as a vessel and a reflection of my inner experience. Touch makes its vulnerability visible. When looking is not enough, I turn to the gesture of touching my face, bringing another sense into the act of recognising myself. The music gives an audible form to this transition. Together, image, gesture and sound create a space in which I invite viewers to question their own changing sense of self.
